Cougar Tales: Campus News (November 2015)

The College Welcomes Ann Pryor '83, the New Vice President of Alumni Affairs

Ann Looper Pryor’s roots run deep at the College: her father, sister, and two cousins also attended CofC.  She earned her B.A. degree in political science and is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.  Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for Senator Strom Thurmond.  Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer of The Cultural Landscape Foundation and previously worked for the American Institute of Architects, the McGraw-Hill Companies, and the American Society of Landscape Architects.

During her 25 years of experience in association management, Ann has specialized in development, marketing, and communications for several distinguished organizations.  She has worked closely with boards of directors, chapters, and volunteers to implement strategic plans, produce events, and raise funds for programs and capital campaigns.  Ann has been particularly successful in managing business activities to increase return on investment and identify new revenue sources.  She is a collaborative and collegial leader who will engage with the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff to connect with our 60,000 alumni through a broad range of programs, events, and resources.

Even before coming to work at the College, Ann has strived to be a model alumna, following our motto to “Stay Informed, Get Involved and Give Back.” In 2012, Ann and her husband Greg created the annual W.N. Looper Award in memory of her late father.  The award provides funding for a deserving CofC student to experience a summer internship with a member of the South Carolina Congressional delegation in Washington, D.C.  Now that she is on campus, Ann hopes to share her enthusiasm and expertise so that more alumni can find their own way to, “Stay Informed, Get Involved and Give Back” to our alma mater.

Ann is delighted to be returning to Charleston with her husband, Greg, and their two dogs, Kirby and Biscuit.

We hope many of you will be able to meet Ann in the near future, whether at the Alumni Awards Gala on November 19, the Lowcountry Alumni Holiday Party on December 10 or on the road as she visits alumni chapters across the country. Or you can get directly in touch with Ann at 843.953.2060 or pryoral@cofc.edu, she’s very eager to meet as many alumni as possible.

Please help welcome Ann whom we are thrilled to have as a part of the College of Charleston team and the ever-growing Cougar Nation!
