April 2018


Thomas Hartnett of Isle of Palms, SC, has joined Carolina One Real Estate in Mount Pleasant, SC. He has been a licensed Realtor for more than 40 years and served in the South Carolina Legislature for 22 years. He currently serves as a member of the South Carolina Legislative Audit Committee.


Wayne Bauknight is a retired dentist living in Maggie Valley, NC. He is the former Secretary Treasurer, Vice President, and President of South Carolina Orthodontic Association. He also was former delegate, president elect, and president of the Southern Association of Orthodontics and a former delegate to the American Association of Orthodontists.


Margaret Freeman Carswell of Mount Pleasant, SC, has retired after serving for 20 years as the Receptionist for Sandpiper Rehabilitation & Nursing.


Rahul Mehra of Tampa, FL, has been named as the 2018 recipient of the M.A. Bernstein Behavioral Health Award by the Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services. Dr. Mehra is a psychiatrist and leads MehraVista Health, and is dedicated to destigmatizing, raising awareness, and improving access for children and adults who are dealing with stressful life situations.

Sol Morse has joined Carolina One Real Estate Services as an Associate in Charleston, SC. He earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and received a certificate in database applications, development, and design from Columbia University. Previously, he was a computer programmer for New York Life for 16 years in New York City.


Renee Cooley Douglas of Hartsville, SC, has been named District Chief Financial Officer for Darlington County Schools.


Debra Gammons of Daniel Island, SC, is President-Elect of the Charleston County Bar Association for 2018-2019. She is the director of the office of diversity initiatives and a distingushed visiting professor at the Charleston School of Law, and served on the Board of Trustees for the College of Charleston.


Gretchen Birt-Schatzer of Barnwell, SC, was inducted into the Office of Secretary for the South Carolina Emergency Management Association during the Association's annual workshop in Myrtle Beach, SC, in February.


Caroline Welch West of Charleston, SC, is Attorney of Council at Thurmond Kirchner & Timbes, LLC. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Cumberland Law School.


Katharine Owens (MS '03) of Middletown, CT, has been awarded a Fulbright Foreign Scholarship for her continued research in environmental policy and impact in India. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Hartford in the Department of Politics, Economics, and International Studies.

Robin Sterling Windham is a Realtor at Healthy Realty, located in Charleston, SC.


Brian Crendrowski and his wife, Nicole, have opened Fireforge Crafted Beer, a brewery and tasting room, in downtown Greenville, SC.

Shannon Hein of Amherst, NY, has been named Executive Vice President of William S. Hein & Co., Inc. He has served the company as Vice President of Sales since 2008.

Tiffany Lauderdale Phillips of Franklin, IN, serves as Special Counsel to Extendicare Health Services, and has opened an independent bookstore, Wild Geese Bookshop. She and her husband, George, have two children.


Beth Hamilton of Mount Pleasant, SC, has joined the Charleston School of Law as Director of Externship Outreach Programs. Previously, she was director of pro bono programs for the South Carolina Bar.

Matthew Igoe of Greenwich, CT, is Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Poker Central.


Taylor Wood of Wantagh, NY, is Associate Director, Senior Partner at GroupM in New York City.


Genevieve Peterson is the Evening Content Producer at WCIV ABC News 4 in Mount Pleasant, SC. Previously, she was Associate Editor of Special Projects for SCBiz News.


Christopher Boehner and Angela Faison united in marriage on September 30, 2017 in Aiken, SC. The couple honeymooned in Belize and reside in Nashville, TN.


Emmanuel Ferguson of Charleston, SC, is an executive committee member of the Charleston County Bar Association for 2018-2019. He is an Attorney at Cleveland and Conley, LLC in Charleston, SC.

Katherine Frederick is a Realtor at Simply Commercial Real Estate in Charleston.

Matt Tillman has opened Seaside Pediatric Dental Associates, a pediatric dentistry office in Murrells Inlet, SC, which specializes in infant, children, adolescents, and patients with special health needs.

Kristy Wiegmann of St. Petersburg, FL, is a Certified Financial Planner with Raymond James, and was recently selected into the Leadership St. Pete Class of 2018, one of the oldest leadership programs in America.


Rich Bailey and Clara MacMillan Bailey '11 of Charleston, SC, are owners of MacBailey Candle Co. They design hand-poured candles which are sold in over 150 stores.

Sara Clark of Charleston, SC, has joined Century 21 Properties Plus as an Agent. She will focus on Charleston area residential property sales.


Jazzi Goode is a teacher at the Movement School in Charlotte, NC, where she celebrated Black History Month by dressing up as different personalities from African American history.

Laura Jane Houle of Lubbock, TX, is the fiddle player for the country and Americana band, Flatland Cavalry.


Megan Hilbert of Charleston, SC, is earning her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and will graduate in May 2018.

Morgan Mikolajczyk Insley of Mount Pleasant, SC, is an Associate Attorney at Buist Byars & Taylor, LLC. She earned her law degree from the Charlotte School of Law.


Jordan John united in marriage with David Flynn '15 on October 28, 2017, and resides in Charleston, SC. She has a master's in higher education from Drexel University.

Page Fortuna has been promoted to Management Coordinator at Collective Artist Management in Nashville, TN.

Whitney Martin of Charleston, SC, is a Real Estate Agent at Jeff Cook Real Estate in Mount Pleasant, SC. She is a volunteer assistant coach for the nationally ranked College of Charleston Dance Team.


Teddi Aaron is an Educational Outreach Coordinator for the Close Up Foundation, and resides in Washington, DC.

Kiersten Kane of Medford, MA, is Creative Account Manager at Marlo Marketing in Boston.

Valerie Keller is an Account Manager at STEM Premier in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Andrew Spector of Tulsa, OK, is a Program Manager for Leadership Tulsa and was selected as a 2016-17 Germanacos Fellow through Interfaith Youth Core. He is also co-founder of Tulsa Changemakers, a youth leadership development and action program.


Laurel Fay is General Office Assistant at Shepley Bulfinch located in Boston, MA.

Maddie Howard is a Marine Science Field Instructor for the Marine Resources Development Foundation in Key Largo, FL.

Pat Mitchell of Mount Pleasant, SC, is a Marketing Project Specialist for Charlestowne Hotels.


Katie Holder of Greenville, SC, is an Exercise Physiologist for North Greenville Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinic. She travels throughout the Southeast performing stress tests, pulmonary testing, and EKGs on firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and other public safety employees.

Sammi Maziejka is Assistant Athletic Director of Advancement and External Relations at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC.

Zachary Snow of Reading, PA, works in investment manager services for SEI Investments, a financial service company.
