July 2019

1964

Linda Cope hosted two art shows in 2018: one at Crane Arts, LLC, in Philadelphia, PA, where she has a studio, and the other at the Cosmopolitan Club in Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square. In October 2019, her studio will be part of POST Open Studio Tours. She lives in Mooretown, NJ, with her husband, John. They have five grandchildren.

1971

Ray Smith received an MD from the Medical University of South Carolina and is an Anatomic Pathologist in Norfolk, VA. He and his wife, Susan, have two children and one grandson.

1979

Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, of Mount Pleasant, SC, is the Managing Partner of Colbert Busch, LLC, a consulting firm that focuses on the nexus of academia and the business world. She is currently working for the SC Aeronautical Training Center at Trident Technical College. She is Vice President of the College of Charleston Alumni Association.

Kristi Servies, a resident of Cary, NC, welcomed her first granddaughter, Audrey Rigg, on September 29, 2015.

1981

Angie Easterling Rossetti, a resident of Enfield, CT, retired from East Windsor Public Schools in June 2019, with 27 years of service as a Special Education Teacher.

1983

Jeanne Miles Livingston was named Teacher of the Year at Drayton Hall Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year. She and her husband, Bubba, live in Charleston.

1985

Julie Hutson Ellis (MEd) is a Special Education Teacher for the Tenino School District in Washington. She lives in Puyallup, WA, and has one daughter, Jennifer.

1987

Patsy Secrist Davis is the Interim Director of Campus Recreation at Augusta University in Georgia. She welcomed her first granddaughter, Park Mae Hinkson, on December 16, 2018, and she earned an MPA from Augusta University earlier this year.

Maura Hogan who has worked for the College's Marketing and Communications Department since 2014, will be following her passion and moving on to serve as the Arts Critic at the Charleston Post and Courier. She authored award-winning articles while working at the College, and also contributed to the College Reads program, the Boundless campaign, and commencement. 

1990

Billy Walkowiak is the Founder and CEO of Collision Safety Consultants and lives in Belmont, NC, with his wife, Brandy. He serves on the NC Department of Insurance Consumer Assistance Group committee. He is a Licensed Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser, and inspects vehicles to make sure collision repairs are done properly.

1991

Jenny Madison Dixon is a Realtor for Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate Company in Augusta, GA. She and her husband, Robert, have two daughters, Meghan and Caroline, and live in Evans, GA.

1995

Sam Moore has joined the William Means Real Estate team in Charleston, SC, as a Realtor.

Bob Rickards will be in his first season coaching St. Norbert women's soccer in the fall of 2019. Bob completed a stellar career coaching both the girls' and boys' soccer teams at Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, WI, in the spring of 2019. He led the Notre Dame girls to a WIAA Division 3 state championship in 2018, and the boys to a pair of WIAA Division 2 state titles in 2007 and 2008. The Tritons also finished as the Division 3 boys state runner-up in 2013 and the Division 3 girls state runner-up in 2011 and 2015.

Vivian Bailey Sanders, of Rock Hill, SC, is the Founder of Alpha Alpha Gamma Psi Christian Sorority Inc. with chapters located in SC, NC, and GA. Since 2015, a total of 14 scholarships have been awarded to high school female seniors. She and her husband, Corey, founded New Impact Ministries in 2014 in Chester, SC, and celebrated five years in the ministry in June of this year.

1997

Megan Crawford Shaw obtained both an MA in human resources and an MBA from Ottawa University. She is the New Installation Sales Manager for ThyseenKrupp Elevator in Fort Worth, TX. She and her husband, Jason, have one son, Crawford.

1998

Randy Guarneri was named Vice President of Loss Prevention for Alabama-based Fresh Value Supermarkets, overseeing loss prevention in all 275 stores and reporting directly to the CEO. He has 24 years of asset protection and loss prevention experience and is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Forensic Interviewer.

1999

Misty Chestnut Camden lives in Lexington, VA, with her husband, Kristopher, and their two children, Zoe and Kohen.

2000

Jessica Chenault Whitehead has been named the North Carolina Chief Resilience Officer, housed in the Office of Recovery and Resiliency in the NC Department of Public Safety in Durham, NC. She earned an MS in meteorology and a PhD in geography from Penn State University.

2002

Katie Jelen, of Chapel Hill, NC, welcomed a daughter, Mary Adeline, on November 2, 2018.

Patrick Schlebrowski has been promoted to Managing Director of STADA Pharmaceuticals in Germany. He and his wife, Maria, welcomed their son, Jan, on February 8, 2018. The Schlebrowski family lives in Frankfurt, Germany.

Jamie Self was promoted to Senior Editor of Politics and State Government at The State newspaper in Columbia, SC.

2003

Carren Winburn Hutto became the General Manager of Carpenter Technology, a Hartsville, SC, steel mill, in December 2018. She lives in McBee, SC, with her husband, Jason, and their two children, Bethannie and Jason.

Kristy King obtained an MA in conservation biology from Columbia University in 2008. In 2018, she became a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner via the Society for Ecological Restoration. She also worked with colleagues to publish the Forest Management Framework for NYC the same year. She and her husband, Ravi Varma, welcomed their daughter, Mira, on February 15, 2018. Today, she is the Director of Natural Areas Restoration and Management for the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation.

2004

Rissa Adebo is the Senior Manager of Business Processes at The CSL Group in Montreal, Canada.

Jeff Files is Executive Vice President of Integrity Locums in Engelwood, CO. He was named to Staffing Industry Analyst's "Top 40 Under 40 in North America" list in both 2018 and 2019. He and his wife, Allison Beer, live in Denver.

Ruthie Wiser Harman has joined the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired South Carolina as Client Service and Office Manager. She and her husband, Stephen Harman '05, reside in Charleston.

Emily Rothweiler has been promoted to Acccount Manager for the managed information technology services team at Immedion, LLC in Ladson, SC.

Mary Ellen Tysinger married Eric Twohey on March 29, 2015. She is the Co-Founder of Vendvana, a company building a collective of inspired people who leverage their exchange network to share success and impact their companies. The couple lives in Phoenix, AZ.

2005

Lander Claassen has been promoted to Area Manager by Ferguson Enterprises in Orlando, FL. He has worked at the company for 11 years, most recently creating a unique training and on-boarding program focused on developing future leaders necessary for expected company growth.

Elizabeth Maroska Love and her husband, Andrew, welcomed their second son, Asher, on April 26, 2019, joining his big brother, William. The family lives in Clover, SC.

Christy Shelton Martin received her MEd from Western Graduate University. She lives in Stevensville, MT, with her husband, Jeremy.

Ashley Martin Wendt is a Public Health Consultant for Conduent. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the College for the Women's and Gender Studies and Latin American and Caribbean Studies departments. She most recently served as the 2019 director of the CofC Cuba study abroad program where she spent six weeks in Cuba teaching two classes to a group of students. She lives with her family in Charleston.

Crystal Willis was a 2019 graduate of Leadership Columbia and is working as a Financial Accountant for the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority, known as The COMET, in Columbia, SC.

2007

Katie Puza Alex graduated with an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College on June 9, 2019.

Katy Cameron married Daniel Shahid on June 9, 2018. She is a Product Manager of Operational Systems at Snag in Charleston, SC.

2008

Jen Rogers married Thomas Bowen on April 15, 2017, in Asheville, NC. She earned an MBA from The Citadel in 2012, and is the Practice Administrator at Columbia Skin Clinic in Columbia, SC.

Ryan Cummins has joined Wildermuth Advisory, LLC as a Portfolio Analyst at their new headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

Katie Heath Douglass and her husband, Ben, announce the birth of their daughter, Annie Button, on April 4, 2019. The Douglass family lives in Charleston.

Lauren Johnson Grimmer and husband, William, welcomed their daughter, Eleanora, on April 17, 2019. The Grimmer family resides in Tampa, FL.

Mary Catherine Kennedy received an MA in telecommunication in 2009, and a PhD in media arts and studies in 2014, from Ohio University. She is an Assistant Professor at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD.

2009

Chianne Zima Barelt and her husband, Aaron, have two children, Alexander and Sydney. She is a self-employed Montessori Teacher and resides in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Andy Carroll has joined the Jaffee Group at Shelter Lending Services in Charleston as a Senior Loan Officer. He has four years of residential mortgage lending experience and is a Veteran of the US Army.

Michael Jowers is a Camp Nurse at Camp Echo Lake in Warrensburg, NY. The camp is a seven-week sleepaway camp in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York.

Peter Newlin was recently named by QSR Magazine (Quick-Service and Fast Casual Restaurants) one of 18 Young Restaurant Leaders to Watch. Peter received an MBA from the University of Denver in 2009, and became a Partner in both Park Burger and a new chicken restaurant called Birdcall, which now has three Denver locations. He has plans to expand nationwide and is working to make the brand a "one percent" restaurant, donating one percent of sales to a community organization or charitable cause. 

Emily Gould, of West Columbia, SC, married Herb Wilson on May 28, 2017. She is the Marketing Manager at Midlands Technical College.

2010

Gordy Casasco is the Vice President of SEO and Content at JumpCrew, an acquisition marketing platform that helps businesses drive site traffic, leads, and sales based in New York City.

Hillary Beasley Kimsey obtained a master's of divinity degree from the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in June 2017. During her residency as a Spiritual Care Provider at Harborview Medical Center, a level one trauma center in Seattle, she was recognized for her excellence in innovative spiritual care and interdepartmental collaboration. She is now working as a Spiritual Care Provider for the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

Bretticca Moody was named State Director for California Congressman Eric Swalwell's presidential campaign in South Carolina.

Aubrey Cox married Joseph Benjamin Ottenstein on June 1 in Norman, OK. She leads the youth programs as Program Lead at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., an organization that works to help countries solve their problems without violent conflict.

2011

Charles Carmody married Becca Barnet on October 13, 2018, at Camp Greystone in Tuxedo, NC. He is the Director of the Charleston Music Hall.

Holly Kasper Colsher and her husband, Will, welcomed their son, William, on December 13, 2017. She is the Executive Coordinator for the American Red Cross, Eastern New York Region. The family lives in Schenectady, NY.

Bethanie Kemper Kenderdine is a Latin Teacher at Thomas Hart Academy in Hartsville, SC. She and her husband, Jeff, welcomed their first son, Theodore Stephen, on April 3, 2017.

Abbey Beal and Evan Williams '09 were married on June 8, 2019, in Center Harbor, NH. The couple lives in Gardena, CA, where Abbey works as a Sustainability Consultant for Partner Energy.

2012

Danna Lewsky Cook is the Marketing Operations Manager for FIT4MOM Charleston. She lives in the Charleston with her husband, Sam Cook '09, and their son, Ari.

Adam Kronemeyer married Sarah Lovingood on April 7, 2017, in Mount Pleasant, SC. He is a Senior Account Executive at Blackbaud on Daniel Island.

Erin Minnigan, previously employed by the City of Charleston Board of Architectural Review, has joined the Preservation Society of Charleston as Director of Historic Preservation. A resident of Mt. Pleasant, SC, she earned a master's degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Florida.

Gillian Rogers is studying Library Science at Valdosta State University and plans to graduate with a Masters in 2020. She is a Children's Generalist for the Charleston County Public Library in Charleston, SC.

Deidra Weber married Joshua Alston on December 26, 2018. She received an MS in physician assistant studies from George Washington University in May, and resides in Crofton, MD.

2013

Dancy Eve Dickson has joined Handsome Properties in Charleston, SC, as an Agent.

Amanda Moore married Jacob Hatcher on September 3, 2017, at Pepper Plantation in Awendaw, SC. She is a Kindergarten Teacher for the Horry County School District and lives in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Sarah Stertz Winecoff created a 17-foot, three-piece mural in the Office of the Registrar representing the beginning, middle, and end of a student's journey using a panoramic view of the Cistern Yard. She was heavily influenced by her time spent at the College along with motivation from her late father, Jim Stertz. She is the Owner of The Wharf Market in downtown Charleston, and sells locally-made gifts, her artwork, and handmade greeting cards.

2014

Steven Bonjour received a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2018, and is an Attorney at Franklin D. Azar & Associates in Denver, CO.

Alec Smith married Claire McNulty Chewning on June 15, 2019, in Georgetown, SC. He is a Realtor at Coastal Real Estate Soluntions II on Callawassie Island, SC. The couple resides in Beaufort, SC.

Remy Starker was honored by the CofC Staff Advisory Committee as the College's Temporary Employee of the Year at the committee's annual lunch and awards presentation in June. She serves as the academic advisor for the women's soccer, track and field, and cross country programs, as well as the academic contact for the national championship sailing team. She also assists in all aspects of the academic advising department with an emphasis on administration and programming.

2015

Lindsay Boyd, of Beaufort, SC, published her first novel, The Strongest Survivor, a story about three best friends going through the American Military Institute together while facing a multitude of different challenges, and competing to be the one who makes it to graduation day. The novel can be purchased on Amazon.

Rebecca Drewry was nominated as "Charleston's Finest" by the South Carolina Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She earned a master's in higher education administration from Northeastern University in 2017, and is now the Assistant Director for Admissions at the College of Charleston..

Desiree Fragoso (MPA) has been appointed City Administrator of Isle of Palms, SC. 

Carson Gernert is attending Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and plans to graduate with an MBA in May 2020.

Stirling Rentz and Jonathan Scott Holbrook, both of Charleston, SC, were united in marriage on May 25, 2019 at Santa Rosa Beach, FL. She is a Partnership Specialist at Tallo in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Dylan Mazelis graduated from San Diego State University in June with an MA in higher education administration/student affairs.

Cathryn Schrader obtained a PharmD from the University of Georgia and will be starting a pediatric residency program over the summer at Children's of Alabama in Birmingham.

2016

Andrea Leehr Aleshire and her husband, Lance, welcomed their first child, Benjamin Paul, on February 22, 2019. She is completing an MS in public health at Benedictine University. The family lives in San Diego, CA.

Ashley Phoenix is studying biomedical and health sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She plans to graduate with a master's degree in April 2020.

Jill Rosone has been promoted to Senior Account Executive at Sharp Communications in NYC.

Kendall Sorem is Assistant Administrator with HCA Healthcare at Summerville Medical Center in Summerville, SC. She earned an MHA from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2018.

Ryan Spraker obtained a JD from George Washington University Law School on May 19, 2019. After studying for the bar exam, he will join the law firm, Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville, PC, in Washington, D.C., as an Associate in the Education Practice Group.

Jessie Woodruff has relocated from Charlotte, NC, to Denver, CO, and continues to work for AECOM as a Geologist. In her free time, she loves to cycle and hike throughout the country.

2017

Lindsey Dombrowski is the Brand Communications Coordinator at The Dewberry Hotel in downtown Charleston.

2018

Matthew Amis (MS), of Surrey, England, married Kristen Elizabeth Baker on May 4, 2019, on Johns Island, SC. They will reside in England where he is employed as a Specialist Building Surveyor and Conservator for Hutton + Rostron.

Brady Dashiell has joined Cushman & Wakefield|Thalhimer in Charleston, SC, as an Associate and Office Leasing Specialist.

Elizabeth Robinson, of Simpsonville, SC, will be starting at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM) in fall of 2019. She was one of only 12 members of the 95-member first-year class to receive the prestigious Bardsley Scholarship for students who have demonstrated high academic performance in their undergraduate studies.

Aaron Sarro completed his first year at the University of Baltimore School of Law and is an Intern for The Honorable Karen C. Friedman in the Baltimore City Court. He is also working as a Law Clerk for the Law Office of Hyatt & Goldbloom, LLC.

2019

Jarrell Brantley was selected in the 2019 NBA Draft as the 50th overall draftee by the Indiana Pacers (traded to the Utah Jazz). He is only the third CofC basketball player to be drafted in program history.

George Gabriel has relocated to Strasbourg, France, where he is a Professor with Straformation. He teaches individualized and group courses to professionals in German, English, French, and Spanish.

Maggie Sloan is the Lead Event Assistant for Ashley Nicole Events in Charleston, SC. Prior to graduation, Maggie was an Event Intern in the Office of Alumni Affairs at the College.
